Robin Hood

You recently acquired the attention span to watch an entire movie, and we've been having fun watching them as a family. Apparently I have a gigantic stick up my butt, because I find something objectionable about nearly all of them. The language in Cars, the depressing beginnings of Up and Finding Nemo, the smoking in 101 Dalmations...I'm not sure some of this stuff is appropriate for a not-even-preschooler, but I've been outvoted.

So anyhow, Daddy's favorite childhood movie is Robin Hood. I picked it up to humor him, but was mildly perplexed at his choice. Robin Hood, an outlaw who steals from the rich to give to the poor? This is Daddy's favorite movie? I could see if Robin Hood was teaching the poverty-stricken to read or raise chickens or grow corn or something, but the stealing-handout cycle didn't seem to mesh with his general life view.

Well. Then I actually watched the movie! Contrary to popular belief, Robin Hood (the Disney version) was not stealing from the rich to give to the poor. Oh no. He and his buddies were simply returning money to a citizenry that had been overtaxed by an abusive, corrupt, power-hungry government. Definitely up Daddy's alley.

Maybe I should warn my Senators to be on the lookout for an arrow-armed fox!

  1. That's one of my faves--we actually just had it in the other day! Oh, and The Fox and the Hound. Definitely! :)

  2. This could be just the justification I have been looking for to build a full metal jacket home theater. Now to convince Mamo.
