Kissing

You are a big smoocher lately. In a hotel room a few weeks ago there was a huge floor-to-ceiling mirror, and you would run over to it and kiss your image whenever Daddy or I told you to kiss the baby. You were so cute! You also love to kiss your stuffed animals (Elmo especially) and the pictures in your books.

You are such a young, innocent, loving age. The babies in one of your books are all different races and genders. You give them all big, enthusiastic, open-mouthed, slobbery kisses. It is great! Somewhere along the line we lose that way of expressing our unabashed love for each other. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we gave our friends big kisses and hugs every time we see them? Other than catching more colds it would be so much friendlier! I suppose this does happen in some circles...most of my "city friends" have a habit of greeting each other with these absentminded air-cheek kisses. If they are *really* cool they do a European version of the air-cheek kiss, making sure to get you on both cheeks. Apparently all things European are more refined. I'm not sure who decided that, but it seems to be one of those weird facts of life.

Anyway. I'm going to miss your monster kisses someday so I'm enjoying them while I can, slobber and all!
